Story of a Mother
From 2018 to 2020, I had the opportunity to work on the New Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense, Denmark. EVENT Communications, a global exhibition/ experience design agency, contacted me for the project.
I was tasked with creating all the illustrations for the museum. The art direction was led by Stuart Williams and Eithne Owens from EVENT team, alongside Henrik Lübker from HCA Hus.
Hans Christian Andersen is probably most known for fairy tales like The Little Mermaid, The Matchstick, The Snow Queen and The Ugly Duckling.
Yet, the fairy tale that had the deepest impact on me was a far lesser-known one entitled The Story of a Mother, first published in December 1847.
The animation is displayed in the Creativity room and it focuses on the two central elements of the story: Death moving away with her child and the mother trying to chase him and get her baby back.
