The Tinderbox

From 2018 to 2020, I had the opportunity to work on the New Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense, Denmark. EVENT Communications, a global exhibition/ experience design agency, contacted me for the project.

I was tasked with creating all the illustrations for the museum. The art direction was led by Stuart Williams and Eithne Owens from EVENT team, alongside Henrik Lübker from HCA Hus.

Behind the experimental, unique and dark 3D animations is Noah Harris and his production company, Agile Films. These short animations featuring the dogs are part of a video displayed in the museum. I worked on the concept for the inside eye illustrations, which were animated by Mute Studio.

Visitors in the Tinderbox area have to look through what appears to be knotholes in the tree structure. Each door reveals a terrifying dog, whose eyes transform into zoetrope/kinematoscopes, revealing some of the events of the story.
